Licenses and notices
TaktSignal
TaktSignal is proprietary software. The Community Alpha is free to download, install and use for evaluation
under the TaktSignal Community Alpha Licence, which ships with every download as LICENSE (inside the
application's payload folder). In short, you may download, install, run and evaluate TaktSignal on computers you
control — including with your own ERPNext data — keep the data and backups it creates, and send feedback. The licence
does not allow redistributing or selling TaktSignal, publishing its binaries elsewhere, distributing modified copies,
or presenting it as your own. The TaktSignal source code is not published.
The licence covers TaktSignal's own code only. The open-source components listed below remain under their own licences, which the TaktSignal licence does not restrict.
Your use of the Community Alpha is also described in the Community Alpha terms.
Bundled third-party software
The installers include two runtimes so that you do not have to install them. They are redistributed unmodified (apart from the architecture thinning described below) and remain the property of their authors. TaktSignal does not claim ownership of them.
| Component | Version | Licence |
|---|---|---|
| Node.js | 22.22.2 | MIT, plus the licences of its bundled components (OpenSSL, ICU, libuv, V8 and others) — payload/runtime/node/LICENSE |
| PostgreSQL (macOS) | 16.15 (EnterpriseDB build) | PostgreSQL License — payload/runtime/postgres/server_license.txt; component licences in commandlinetools_3rd_party_licenses.txt |
| PostgreSQL (Linux, Windows) | 16.14 | PostgreSQL License — payload/runtime/postgres/ |
The PostgreSQL builds include: OpenSSL 3 (Apache License 2.0), ICU (Unicode License), libxml2 and libxslt (MIT), zstd, lz4 and libedit (BSD), zlib (zlib License), MIT Kerberos (MIT) and GNU libiconv (LGPL-2.1, dynamically linked); on Windows also gettext (LGPL-2.1, dynamically linked DLLs). On Linux, PostgreSQL uses the system's own OpenSSL, libxml2, zstd, lz4, zlib and Kerberos libraries, installed by your package manager.
On macOS, the EnterpriseDB universal binaries are reduced to the Apple Silicon part; the kept part is byte-for-byte EnterpriseDB's and keeps EnterpriseDB's code signature.
LGPL components — source code
GNU libiconv and gettext are shipped as unmodified shared libraries that you may replace with your own build. Their source code is available from the GNU project:
- GNU libiconv: https://www.gnu.org/software/libiconv/ (source archives: https://ftp.gnu.org/pub/gnu/libiconv/)
- GNU gettext: https://www.gnu.org/software/gettext/ (source archives: https://ftp.gnu.org/pub/gnu/gettext/)
The PostgreSQL binaries that contain them come from EnterpriseDB (macOS: https://www.enterprisedb.com/download-postgresql-binaries) and theseus-rs/postgresql-binaries (Linux, Windows: https://github.com/theseus-rs/postgresql-binaries). If you need the exact corresponding source for a library in a TaktSignal download, ask through the Support page and we will provide it or point to it.
Application libraries
TaktSignal's application uses open-source libraries (among them Next.js, React, node-postgres, Drizzle ORM, bcryptjs,
Zod, Recharts, Radix UI and Lucide). Their licence and copyright notices ship with every download in
THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.txt (inside the payload folder), and each release publishes a software bill of materials
(sbom.cdx.json, CycloneDX) listing every library with its version and licence.
Trademarks
