TaktSignal documentation
Everything you need to evaluate TaktSignal: from the download to your first alert, written for factory owners and operations managers. No source code, terminal or Docker needed.
Start here
- Getting startedTaktSignal is Manufacturing Operational Intelligence for ERPNext. It reads your ERPNext sales orders, work orders, stock and purchase orders and shows where the factory is about to lose time — material shortages,…
- Community Alpha limitationsThis page lists what has not been proven yet, so you can decide how to evaluate TaktSignal. It is updated with each Community Alpha release.
- Privacy and your dataYour ERPNext. Your machine. Your database. Your factory data. TaktSignal reads operational information to help surface risk. It does not need to watch you.
Install
- InstallationTaktSignal installs on your own computer like any other application. It brings its own database and runtime, runs only for your OS user, and is reachable only from that computer. No administrator rights are needed on…
- Installing the macOS Community AlphaThe TaktSignal Community Alpha for Mac is currently an unsigned test build: it has not yet been signed with an Apple Developer ID or notarized by Apple. macOS therefore blocks it the first time you open it, with a…
- Installing the Windows Community Alpha (experimental)Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit; 4 GB of memory; 2 GB of free disk space. No administrator rights are needed — TaktSignal installs for your Windows user only.
- Verify your downloadThis is optional. It lets you confirm that the file on your computer is exactly the file TaktSignal published — not damaged, not replaced along the way.
Connect ERPNext
- Create a TaktSignal Reader in ERPNextTaktSignal only needs to read ERPNext. You give it its own ERPNext user — the TaktSignal Reader — that can look at documents but cannot create, change or delete anything. This takes about 10 minutes and is done once,…
- Connect ERPNextSetup asks for three things. Have the TaktSignal Reader ready first.
- The first synchronizationAfter the capability check, TaktSignal reads your ERPNext data once — Reading data from ERPNext. Small factories take a few minutes; large sites can take longer. You can leave the window open or come back later.
Use TaktSignal
- Using TaktSignalTaktSignal answers two questions every morning:
- Understanding alertsAn alert is TaktSignal saying: _this is likely to cost factory time, here is why, here is the evidence, and here is how sure we are._ Alerts are decision support. They can be wrong, late or missing — always check…
- Understanding confidenceEvery alert carries a confidence label — High, Medium or Low — and the list of reasons behind it.
- Understanding Data TrustTaktSignal is only as reliable as the operational data it can see. Data Trust is how TaktSignal tells you what it can see, how fresh it is, and where the numbers disagree with each other — before you rely on an alert.
- Sync and data freshnessIn the app, Integrations → ERPNext → Auto-sync every changes the interval (5–60 minutes).
Look after it
- Backup and restoreYour TaktSignal data lives in a local database on your computer. Backups protect the part that exists only in TaktSignal — alert outcomes, notes, owners, counts, receipt checks, variance explanations, users and…
- UpdatesTaktSignal never updates itself silently and never checks for updates on its own.
- RepairRepair TaktSignal fixes the usual problems after a power cut, a crash or a full disk. It never deletes your data and never touches ERPNext.
- Diagnostics and supportWhen something goes wrong, a diagnostics file lets us understand how TaktSignal sees your installation — without seeing your factory's data.
- TroubleshootingStart with the Control Center (the TaktSignal icon opens it). Every problem is shown with a plain title, what it means, whether anything was changed, and buttons for what to do next. If nothing here helps, export…
- Uninstall and delete your dataUninstalling keeps your data by default, so a later reinstall continues where you left off. Deleting the data is a separate, explicit choice. Neither option contacts or changes ERPNext.
