TaktSignal installs on your own computer like any other application — no Docker, no terminal, no database to set up. It keeps its data on that computer, is reachable only from it, and only ever reads from ERPNext.

Before you download

  • This is early software for evaluation. It has not been validated in enough real factories. Do not use it as the only basis for production decisions. Known limitations.
  • Connect a staging, isolated or test copy of ERPNext first.
  • You need an ERPNext account that can only read; setup checks it and stops if ERPNext reports write permissions. Create one (10 minutes).
  • The builds are unsigned test builds. macOS will say “Apple could not verify TaktSignal is free of malware” and asks you to approve the app once in System Settings; Windows (experimental) shows a SmartScreen warning. This is expected before code signing — read the macOS guide first. If you prefer not to run unsigned software, waiting for a signed release is a reasonable choice.
  • Setup takes about 10 minutes, plus the first data read (a few minutes for a small factory).

Downloads appear here only from signed release metadata, with the checksum of every file — never a placeholder link. Until the first release is published you can read how TaktSignal works, what it stores and how installation will go.

Platform status

  • macOS — Apple Silicon

    Tested Community Alpha

    arm64 (M1 or newer), macOS 12 or later

    Tested
    Installed and taken through setup, restart, reboot, backup/restore and keep-data reinstall on a real Apple Silicon Mac (macOS 26). macOS 12–25 have not been run yet.
    Key limitation
    Unsigned test build: macOS blocks the first open until you approve it in System Settings.

  • Linux — x64 (.deb)

    Tested Community Alpha

    x86-64, Ubuntu 22.04+ / Debian 12+ with a desktop session

    Tested
    Automated clean-machine lifecycle on Ubuntu 24.04 (install, setup, restart, crash, repair, backup/restore, update, rollback, uninstall). Ubuntu 22.04 and Debian 12 are declared but not install-tested yet.
    Key limitation
    Needs a desktop session with a password store (GNOME Keyring or KWallet); not for headless servers.

  • Windows — x64

    Experimental Community Alpha

    Windows 10 / 11, 64-bit

    Tested
    The installer has been built and inspected, but it has not completed the same install validation on a real Windows PC as the tested platforms.
    Key limitation
    Experimental: expect rough edges and please report them.

Verify a download (optional)

A SHA-256 checksum is a 64-character fingerprint of a file: change one byte and it changes completely. If the checksum of your file equals the one shown above, you have exactly the published file. You don't have to do this — but it takes one command:

A matching checksum proves the file is the published one; it is not a code signature or a security audit. More about verifying.

After installing

  1. Open TaktSignal. Its Control Center opens in your browser, on this computer only.
  2. Read what TaktSignal does with your data, and create your local administrator.
  3. Connect ERPNext with the dedicated read-only Reader. TaktSignal checks it cannot write.
  4. Pick your company and review what TaktSignal can read.
  5. Run the first sync, review Data Trust, and open TaktSignal.
