Installation

TaktSignal installs on your own computer like any other application. It brings its own database and runtime, runs only for your OS user, and is reachable only from that computer. No administrator rights are needed on Windows or macOS; Linux uses the normal package installer.

All: 4 GB of memory, 2 GB of free disk space (backups and updates need another 0.5–1.5 GB over time), a browser (Chrome/Chromium has been tested), and network access from this computer to your ERPNext.

1. Download from the official page only

Go to taktsignal.cloud/download. Download only from that page (or the links it gives). Each card shows the version, file size, SHA-256 checksum and what your computer will display when you open the file. Optionally verify the download.

2. Install

macOS (Apple Silicon)

Open the downloaded .zip (double-click), drag TaktSignal into Applications, and open it. The Community Alpha is an unsigned test build, so macOS blocks the first open until you approve it once in System Settings — follow the macOS Community Alpha install guide. Do not turn off Gatekeeper.

Linux

Double-click TaktSignal-<version>-linux-x64.deb and click Install in the App Center (or, if you prefer a terminal, sudo apt install ./TaktSignal-<version>-linux-x64.deb, which also installs the declared dependencies). Then open TaktSignal from your applications. A desktop session with a password store (GNOME Keyring or KWallet) is required; servers without a desktop are not supported by the desktop build.

Windows (experimental)

See the Windows Community Alpha install guide. A Windows download appears on the download page only when an experimental build is published.

3. First launch

TaktSignal starts in the background and opens the Control Center in your default browser at an address that starts with http://127.0.0.1: — that is your own computer. The setup wizard continues from there: Getting started, steps 4–14.

Closing the browser tab does not stop TaktSignal: it keeps reading ERPNext in the background. Open the Control Center again from the TaktSignal icon. Control Center → Overview → Stop stops it.

What the installer puts on your computer

• Program files: macOS /Applications/TaktSignal.app; Linux /opt/taktsignal/ plus a menu entry; Windows %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\TaktSignal\. They contain TaktSignal, a Node.js runtime and a PostgreSQL database server. Updates and reinstalls replace them.
• A start-at-login entry (you can turn it off in Control Center → Advanced).
• Your data folder is created on first launch, separately from the program files (Privacy and your data lists what is inside). Removing the program never deletes it.

Nothing is installed system-wide on macOS or Windows, and no background service runs for other users.
